Steven J. Mihalik age 88 of Hartville, Ohio passed away on May 5, 2010 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton.He was born June 13, 1921 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Elizabeth (Tomas) and Steve Mihalik.Steve worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps before serving in the Navy in WW II in the Solomon Islands. Steve and his family ran a dairy farm in Hartville and he also worked at Goodyear for over twenty years retiring in 1984. During his retirement, he enjoyed writing editorials to the Repository, singing with the Slovak singers and speaking at Toastmaster functions. Steve often visited Slovakia, his parents' homeland, and hosted individuals from that country. Steven was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church North Canton for the past 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Miller), to whom he had been married for 60 years. He also leaves sons Tim of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mark (Nina) of San Clemente, California, Michael (Kathy) of North Canton, Gary (Mary) of San Diego, California, Jeff (Barb) of Hartville, Dan (Cathy) of Hartville, and daughter Rebecca (Jim) Frank of Homeworth. Steve had 17 grandchilden and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law Zigmund (Geraldine) and Francis (Lena) and sisters Mary Kutina and Virginia Shonsky, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Patrick and sister Eleanor Hanson. Calling hours are Sunday 3-5 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 241 South Main St., North Canton with Father Christopher Henyk celebrant.
