Stephen D. Pachmayer, age 78, of North Canton Passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center with his son and daughters by his side. Stephen was born June 4, 1934, in Canton to Paul and Lucille (Stoica) Pachmayer. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1952, received his Bachelor's degree from Kent State University in 1961 and his MBA from Kent State . Stephen served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1954-1956. He was a devoted member of St. Paul 's Catholic Church in North Canton . Mr. Pachmayer was an Industrial Gas Sales Manager for East Ohio Gas Company, retiring in1995 following a 30 year career. He was a member of several Gas Industry affiliated organizations and served on several Gas Industry Boards. He was a dedicated member of the North Canton Planning Commission for 10 years. Stephen was a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce and chaired several committees including Hall of Fame committees. Stephen loved investment strategies and politics and was always willing to discuss and debate these subjects with any willing participant. He was recognized as the Stark County Republican Volunteer of the year in 2009 and has been a member of the North Canton Republican committee since 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife whom he dearly missed, Patricia in 2001. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and John Arnold of North Canton, Stephanie and Steve Herman of Mason, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Brian and Melissa Pachmayer of Mason, Ohio; sister, Pauline Ebert of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Judy Pachmayer of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, John (Christine) Arnold of Centerville, Ohio, Rachel Arnold of North Canton, Stephen and Julianna Herman of Mason, Ohio, Melia and Nathan Pachmayer of Mason, Ohio and many nieces nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton with Msgr. Jay Clark as Celebrant. The family will receive friends Monday 4-7:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery.
