Steia Marie Smith, age 47 of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 12. She was born January 5, 1965 in Canton to Steve and Helen (Watson) Kovacs, graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1983 and was currently attending Stark State University. Steia had a warm and caring heart and became friends with everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her father, Steve in 1989 and her husband, Terry Smith in 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Tessa Smith; son, Nicholas Smith; mother, Helen Stillmak of North Canton; sisters, Jamie Mihelarakis of Indialantic, Florida, Tobi Kintz of North Canton, Paulana Calhoun (Danny) of Canton, Adrea Carr (William) of North Canton; many nieces (Teal & Katie Kintz, Sara Carr, Chloe Mihelarakis) and nephews (Jade Mihelarakis, Kaleb Calhoun, Xavier & Isaac Carr) and her boyfriend Chris Mahoney of Canton. A memorial service will be Tuesday evening 7:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville with Pastor Ted Blackwood officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service 5-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
