Obituary

Sidney E. Beardshaw Jr. of Hartville, Ohio was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday September 23rd, 2018 at the age of 102. Sidney, along with his family, moved to Mogadore Ohio, where, as a young boy, he would walk miles every day to hunt and fish. He graduated from Mogadore High School 1935. Sid then was employed for39 years at the General Tire Rubber Company in Akron Ohio. Sidney served in WWII as a Staff Sgt. where he was a tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber. He flew 50 combat missions and was a member of the Mogadore VFW. His greatest passions were hunting and fishing. After he would get off work before midnight, he would come home, change his clothes and take off to Wingfoot Lake to fish until dawn. Sid was preceded in death by his parents Sidney (Emma) Beardshaw Sr. of Sun City, AZ; Beloved Wife of 40 years Marie of Hartville; His brothers George(Namoni)Beardshaw of Springfield, Herbert (Bernice) Beardshaw of Sun City, AZ; Twin Sister Ruth (Elden) Petry of Bowmansville, PA; Sisters Grace (Fred) Mueller of Boise, ID, Dorothy (Jack) Shumway of Phoenix, AZ; and Daughter Karen (Al) Butler of Cuyahoga Falls. He is survived by daughters Cheryl (Jack) Hanzel of Barberton, Pat Beardshaw of Hartville; Son-in-Law Al Butler of Cuyahoga Falls; Granddaughter Diane (Mike) Makebakken of Ravenna; Grandson David(Theresa) Butler of Saugatuck, MI; Great Grand Children: Gabe Gretz and Gracie Gretz of Ravenna, Alison Butler and Sam Butler of Saugutuck, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held Sunday 1:00 PM at Hartville Church of the Brethren with Pastor Anthony DiMarco officiating. Calling hours are prior to the service 12:30- 1:00 PM in the church. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hartville Church of the Brethren or Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Hospice Center of Canton.
