Shirley J. Houck, age 70, of Hartville went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 19, 2006 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Preston, Mississippi on September 24, 1936 to Elton "Mac" and Cora (Breckenridge) McBrayer. The family moved to Ohio when she was four years old and she graduated from Hartville High School. After a year at Kent State, Shirley completed beauty school and opened her own shop, The Powder Puff. When her son was young, she drove a School Bus for Marlington for 13 years, then was head custodian for Marlboro Elementary for 13 years. Raised in the Hartville United Church of Christ, she recently attended The Chapel In Marlboro. Preceded in death by her father Mac; she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don; son, Eric Houck of East Canton; mother, Cora McBrayer of Hartville; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Besozzi of Canton and Elsie Ralston of Canton;aunt Katherine Breckenridge of Hartville; and other relatives. Friends may call Tuesday (TODAY) 4-7 PM and Wednesday one half hour before services 10:30-11 AM in the Arnold Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Joel Cochran officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chapel In Marlboro.
