Sherita (Sheri) A. Dickerhoof (Alvarez), 67, of Canton was reunited with her late son, Bryan, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Following a recent cancer diagnosis, Sheri passed peacefully surrounded by her family while under the wonderful care of the Summa Health hospice team in Akron. Sheri was the ultimate matriarch of the Dickerhoof family, filling the role of wife, mother, and grandmother in a manner to be admired and modeled by all. Her family was at the center of her world, especially her grandchildren, giving her purpose and bringing her endless joy. She made it her life's mission to ensure her family's needs were met, no matter the circumstance, and never let any obstacle stand in her way of finding the best solution. Sheri's career as a nurse prepared her to care for others in a compassionate and intentional fashion as evidenced by how she cared for her family. She had an eye for design, a taste for culinary excellence, which translated into her expert cooking abilities (especially her cherry pie), and could plan and execute events unlike anyone else. Sheri's smile could light up a room and her booming personality was sure to be remembered by anyone who crossed her path. Though she will be deeply missed by her family and friends, her memory will live on through the profound impact she made on the lives of those she loved most. Sheri was preceded in death by her son Bryan (Tiffany) and her parents. She is survived by husband Ted and children Oliver (Alyssa) and Harrison (Janie); grandchildren Sam, Grace, August, Charlotte (Bryan); Oliver, Lilah (Oliver); and Xander (Harrison); siblings Tanya (Jim) Mitschke, Jack Alvarez, and John Swan, and one niece and two nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 11 from 3-6 p.m. at Arnold & Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, OH 44709. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michael Drive NW Canton, OH 44718.
