Obituary

Sally A. (Foltz) Grella, age 90, of Canton, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025. She was born on March 27, 1934, in Canton, Ohio to the late Elmer and Maurita (Stamm) Foltz.

Sally graduated as class salutatorian from Timken High School in 1952. Immediately following graduation, she married the love of her life, Donald L. Grella on June 20, 1952. Theirs was a marriage of love and admiration.

Sally was always a behind-the-scenes person. As has been said, "Behind every successful man, there is a strong woman."

Sally was a true partner in all of Don's business enterprises—a silent partner, but when she spoke, you'd better listen. She was the bookkeeper in the family business, Stebbins Office Systems.

Sally and Don were not always all business. They loved to travel and both had countless trips to many special destinations throughout the U.S. and the world. But most of all, she had a personal relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ and was a prayer warrior. She was a faithful member of Canton Baptist Temple since 1968.

Besides her parents, Sally was preceded in death by Don, her husband of 55 years. Also preceding her were her brothers Ned and Bill Foltz and grandson Braden Cassidy.

She is survived by her four children: Pastor James (Melanie) Grella of Canton; Richard (Vicky) Grella of North Canton; David (Laura) Grella of Massillon; and Nancy (Rev. Dr. Timothy) McPherson of Overland Park, Kansas; Nine grandchildren: Pastor Nathan (Amanda) Grella; Betsy Grella; Jennifer (Kaipo) Newhouse; Heidi (James) Godar; Pastor Jonathan (April) Grella; Derek Grella; Jacob Grella; Matthew (Lyndsey) McPherson; and Michael (Allison) McPherson; Seven great-grandchildren: Blake and Mckenna Grella; Liam, Joel, and Kate Godar; and Amiyah and Karlinn Grella; Sisters-in-law: Lanny Foltz; and Phyliss Libonati.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, at the Canton Baptist Temple Henniger Ministry Center, 515 Whipple Ave., Canton, Ohio 44708. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastors Jake Tovissi and Delany Young officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canton Baptist Temple Missionary Fund or to Camp CHOF.
