Obituary

Ruth Rogers, age 87, of Hartville passed away on Tuesday June 12, 2018.She was born in Deerfield, OH on May 25, 1931 to the late John and Nettie (Stalnaker) Francis. Ruth was probably best known for her role in being a terrific mother and wife, aunt, daughter, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and good friend to many. She had a positive attitude and would "give you the shirt off her back". In recent years with Alzheimer's, she still remembered to say, "Take it one day at a time", and charmed many, especially at the Hartville Kitchen, with her beautiful voice singing "You Are My Sunshine". Ruth was past President of the Hartville Junior Women's Club, and member of the Jolly Nine Card Club. She was an active member of the church and choir at the United Church of Christ in Hartville. She was involved in the Garden Club and Ladies Golfing at Congress Lake, where she and her husband celebrated 50 years as distinguished members. Ruth was an excellent bowler and an all-around good sport. She loved to read and write and journal each day, as well as take pictures of beautiful landscapes. She loved picking up shells on many beaches, traveling and adventures, and did all of that with the love of her life, Bud (Clarence) Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Clarence L. "Bud" Rogers Jr. and brother John Francis. She is survived by her children Kelvin (Mary Ann) Rogers, Cindy (Jeff) Biggs, Vicki (Charles) Grispin, James (Mary) Rogers; grandchildren Gwyndolyn Rogers, Joshua (Erin) Rogers, Charles and Elena Grispin, Logan, Luke, London and Wyatt Rogers; great-granddaughter Lily Grace Rogers; siblings Imogene Francis, Glenn Francis, Norma Hampu, Shirley Mayfield; and other relatives and friends.

Calling hours are Tuesday 6-8:30 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. The family would like to thank the great staff at the Homestead in Hartville who loved and cared for her like their own mother since they opened in 2017, Crossroads Hospice for their care her last couple of months of her life, the staff at Catholic Charities Adult Day Care of Louisville for taking care of her many days after her husband passed, her local home care takers and drivers, and best friend Jan Wiebelt. Mom loved all her caretakers and they all knew it.
