Ruth Rich, age 85, formerly of Canton and Wooster passed away Saturday August 2, 2008 in Lincolnwood, IL where she had recently resided. She was born in Wooster on July 26, 1923 to the late Kheva and Mary Volper. She graduated from Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a substitute teacher and taught drama, speech and English at Wooster High School. Ruth was a long time member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue. She was a beloved mother to Dr. Darrell (Lynda) Bass of Santa Barbara, CA and Cynthia (Ben) Sloan of Skokie, IL, and loving grandmother of Arin and James Bass, Brian and Kevin Sloan. She was preceded in death by her husband Abe Rich and sisters Sarah Volper and Sonya Polsky. A graveside service will be held Wednesday 11 AM in Canton Hebrew Cemetery with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
