Ruth Margolies, age 98, of Annandale, VA, passed away at home Sunday, June 4, 2017, with family at her side. She was born October 12, 1918, in Cleveland, OH, to Louis and Jenny (Gold) Kline; lived in Canton, OH, for almost 70 years; in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, for almost 20 years, where she was active in an Ohio club; She moved to Ring House in Rockville, MD in 2008 and then to Brightview Woodburn in Annandale in 2017. Ruth was a member of Temple Israel in Canton and Temple B'nai Shalom in Fairfax Station, VA. She graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1936 and managed the Shoelace Store, a specialty shoe store owned by Higbee's (now Dillard's) at Belden Village. She had worked in the fashion clothing and shoe businesses since high school. Ruth had a flair for style, was outgoing, and loved life and people. Her favorite activities included traveling with her family and going on ocean cruises with friends. Ruth was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband Joseph. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marsha and Bruce Alter of Fairfax Station, VA; grandchildren Evan of Austin, TX, Perry (Ciara) of San Jose, CA, and Brandon of Reston, VA. Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00 AM, at Temple Israel with Rabbi Jon Adland officiating. Interment in West Lawn Cemetery.
