Ruth C. Lewis, age 96, of Canton, passed away Sunday evening, November 12, 2017. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Jesse Eli "Jack" and Edna (Gillette) Courtney. Ruth was executive secretary for the Hoover Company for many years. She and her late husband Roy, who taught in the Louisville School System, were long time residents of Plain Township. Ruth traveled much of the globe (always taking pictures) and enjoyed the friendships she made through her work, her travels, and as a member of Simpson United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister Marian Courtney Dort, sister-in-law, Therese (Henkle) Courtney, her nieces, Janice (Courtney) Pini, Kathryn (Courtney) Stecker and Barbara Dort, nephews Kenneth Courtney, Lee Dort and Thomas Dort, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She leaves behind many loving friends.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Simpson United Methodist Church, 4900 Middlebranch Avenue NW in Canton Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Simpson United Methodist Church. Please sign the guest book.
