Ruth "Ruthie" Levin, age 81, of North Canton, passed away Sunday night August 21, 2011 in Rose Lane Health Center. She was born September 16, 1929 in Canton to Maurice and Ida (Adelman) Stein and was a lifetime resident of Canton. Ruthie was a 1947 graduate of McKinley High School and had been a sales associate in the woman's department at O'Neils. She was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue, Canton Jewish Community Center, B'Nai B'Rith and Hadassah. Mrs. Levin loved baking and volunteered her talents at Shaaray Torah and the Jewish Center but her greatest joy was her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, David Levin on November 6, 2010. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean Ann "Jeannie" and Nicholas DeFazio of North Canton; sisters, Dorothy Adelman of Canton and Mildred Shapiro of Akron and two grandchildren, Nicholas D. DeFazio of Dayton and Anne Elise DeFazio of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Donnie Stein. Private graveside services will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. at Canton Hebrew Cemetery with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating.
