Ruth Ann Applegate

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful transition of Ruth Ann (Inwood) Applegate, 89, of Canton who passed away on Monday, May 11, at Windsor Medical Center in North Canton.

Ann was born and raised in Wilmington, OH, and graduated from Wilmington High School. She was working in a shoe store in Wilmington when she met her future husband, Air Force Airman Walter T. “Wally” Applegate Jr. of Canton. They married in July of 1955.

Ann is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Cheryl Ann and Christopher Beers of Canton; brother and sister in-law Richard and Judie Inwood of Miamisburg; and sister in-law Paula Applegate of Canton.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage; and by their son, Michael.

First and foremost, Ann was a woman of faith. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, decorating, and spending time with her friends and family.

Visitation (calling hours) will be held Friday, May 15th, from 11 am – 12 noon at the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N., in downtown Canton. That will be followed by a service at 12 noon and a private burial at North Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family would like to express their appreciation to Windsor Medical Center and its staff for their compassionate and excellent care during Ann’s stay throughout the past year.
