Ruby A. Collier, age 95, of Canton, went home to celebrate Jesus' birthday in Heaven with Him on December 25, 2011. She was born October 12, 1916 in Canton, Ohio to Carl M. and Metha A. Johnson, Sr. and was a 1934 graduate of McKinley High School. Ruby was married to Virgil T. Collier for 61 years until his passing in 1997. She was a 37 year dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross which included making crafts with hospitalized children, special-needs children, servicing the blind and brightening all their days. She was loved by all who knew her. Ruby was a past member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a current member of Westbrook United Methodist Church. Each night she would name each of her children and grandchildren in her prayers; this was very important to her. Ruby is survived by her children, Rodney M. (Barbara) Collier of Marietta, Ohio and Margie M. (John) Hahn of Canton; her granddaughters, Lisa (Marlin) Byers, Holly (Doug) Cox, Brenda (Greg) Miscovich, Kimberly (Rob) Knight, Candice ( Andy) Schob; 14 great-grandchildren, sister, Ella L. Foltz, brother Carl M. Johnson, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Ernest E. Johnson. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. In leiu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross 525 N. Market Ave. Canton, Ohio 44702 or a charity of your choice.
