Richard "Dick" Schwitzgable, age 85, of Canton passed away at home on April 1st. Richard was retired from Schwitzgable Plumbing & Heating, a Navy veteran, a volunteer with Plain Township Fire Department for 47 years and a builder with Habitat for Humanity. He was an active member of First Church of the Resurrection and East Ohio Emmanuel Emmaus. Richard is survived by Merle, his wife of 62 years and four children; Denise (Jim) Aman, Steve (Linda) Schwitzgable, Gary (Patti) Schwitzgable and Amy (Merle) Mader. Additional family includes grandchildren Zach (Tanya) and Matt (Jana) Durant, Kevin (Ericka) and Mark Schwitzgable; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Jim (Nancy), Tom (JoAnn) and Janet Schwitzgable and Doris Kakos. Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Verda Winslow, & great grandson Ezekiel Durant. The family expresses special thanks to Right at Home caregivers and Aultman Hospice. A celebration of Richard's life & home going will be held 11:00 a.m. Thurs, April 5 in the First Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Bruce Mont officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
