Obituary

Roy E Brown, age 88, of Canton, OH went home to his Lord on February 3, 2022. He was born in Canton, OH to the late Carolyn (Wise) and J. Leonard Brown. Roy's greatest joy was his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Joann 'Jan' Brown (Tittle).

He is survived by their three daughters: Kathy Morrison, her partner, Mike Marasa of Venice, FL; Karen Andrade of Lakewood, OH; and Kelley Brown of Canal Fulton, OH. He is additionally survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Jessica Morrison, her wife, Anne Richardson of Amman, Jordan and their two children, Nora and Clyde; Michael Andrade of Columbus, OH; Landen Morrison, his wife, Randi Ferguson of Nashville, TN and their two sons, Mitchell and Jasper; Patrick Morrison, his wife, Crystal Morrison of Columbus, OH and his daughter, Gwen; and Chris 'Bubba' Andrade and (Cora Bode) of Lakewood, OH. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Lee Enders of Florida who was like a sister to him.

Roy attended Lincoln High School and graduated with a degree in architecture from Kent State University. He spent most of his career selling building products to architects, contractors and developers.

One of Roy's passions was music. Over the years, he sang in many choirs and performed in various shows. He played guitar and had a naturally beautiful singing voice while never taking singing lessons. Roy especially enjoyed big band, Dixieland, and barbershop quartet music. He sang in the Crossroads United Methodist Church adult choir (formerly Church of the Savior United Methodist Church) along with his wife, Jan for 47 years. He also enjoyed playing in the handbell choir.

Roy had a deep faith as a result of committing his life to Christ in 1976. That faith was demonstrated by his love and concern for people. He wanted others to know the love, peace, and joy he found in his relationship to God so they could know and experience that relationship. At Crossroads, he served on the worship and evangelism commissions and attended numerous Bible studies. Roy's compassion for the poor and homeless began with his involvement in the Crossroad Church's Oatmeal ministry over twenty years ago. He and his wife, Jan led devotionals and worship every Sunday morning to the underserved in the Canton community while the participants enjoyed a hot meal.

Roy was a man of prayer, faith, integrity and devotion. His easy-going manner, light-heartedness and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His example as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and follower of Christ will continue to influence many others in the years to come. As one friend stated, "Roy was everyone's friend and a man who will always be remembered for his love of life, family, and dedication to his God, church and community. He is a man of faith and incredible integrity and grace. I will always remember him for his uplifting spirit and intelligent guidance along the way."
