Rosemary Ruth McCue Walker, born June 1, 1922 went to join the Lord surrounded by her loving family at Mercy Medical Center on Monday November 13, 2017 at the age of 95.
Rosemary was born in Hamilton, OH to (predeceased) Edwin and Helen McCue. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1940 and then Mercy Medical School of Nursing in 1942 as a registered nurse and served in the United States Army Nurse Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II. Rosemary met her beloved husband John "Jack" Walker in the service and later married on February 3, 1947 in Alliance, OH.
Jack and Rosemary moved to Hicksville, NY, where they raised their three beautiful children. She continued her nursing career for 44 years, along with being a member of St. Paul the Apostle R. C. Church, offering care and comfort to close neighbors and the community. Rosemary was a traveler and connected with parishes wherever she resided and jokingly described herself as a "Roaming Catholic".
Rosemary lived her life with grace, dedication and compassion. Every single soul she came into contact with was met with kindness, generosity, and love. Celebrating with family was central to her life along with a good meal and lots of dessert.
Rosemary is predeceased by sister, Kathleen Weiss; husband, John Walker; daughter, Maura Wolowski; nieces and nephews Lisa Herman, David Herman, Troilee Brown, and Michael Kelley.
Her survivors include sister, Jeanne Herman; children Patricia N. Walker and Joseph D. Walker(Michelle); son-in-law Richard C. Wolowski; grandchildren, Daniel L. Walker, Christopher R. Wolowski, Brian P. Wolowski(Kelly), Katelyn E. Walker, Chelsie M. Tice, and Collin R. Tice; great-grandchildren Nicholas Benito, Lucas Wolowski, Noah Benito and Lily Wolowski; nieces and nephews Susan Williams, Christopher Herman, Dr. Michele Kelley, Bart Weis(Kerri), and Brad Kelley (Patti); many great nieces and nephews including Shanna Becker, Angela Zurlo, and Ashley Cross.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, OH at 10:00am on Friday November 17, 2017. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island with full military honors in June 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer's Association.
