Ronald M. Bair, 94 of Canton, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born March 13, 1929, on Bair Road (Applegrove) of Canton to the late William and Berdella Mae (Lehr) Bair. His father's ancestors first came to the US in 1709 to escape religious persecution. In 1805 the Bair family was one of the first settlers of Plain Township. Ronald spent a lifetime farming and was a born-again Christian. He was a member of 4H and as a teen he won two black angus grand champion awards. He purchased his first tractor, an International Farmall M, with the winnings. He continued farming on the family farm until 1991 and then farmed with his son until 2015. Ronald also drove bus for Plain Local Schools for 39 years. He belonged to the St. Jacob's Community Church of Cairo and served on the St. Jacob Cemetery board. He and his wife were one of the founding members of the Plain Township Historical Society and he was a life-time member of the Farm Bureau.
Ronald is survived by children, Jeff Bair and Susan Nichols; grandchildren, Brittany (Bret) Burch, Brandon (Shelby) Nichols; great grandchildren, Anavey, Nevaeh, Madilyn, Brody, Brianna, and Easton.
Ronald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruby (Kandel) Bair; son-in-law, Gary Nichols; siblings, Junior Carl and Miriam Boli.
Calling hours are Friday, March 1 from 10 – 11 AM. Services begin Friday 11 AM at Arnold Hartville, 514 W Maple St, Hartville, with Pastor Doug Hisey officiating. Final resting place is St. Jacob's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jacob's Cemetery, 1460 State St. NE, Canton, Ohio 44721, or the Plain Township Historical Society.
