Robert H. "Bob" Shoemaker, age 77, of Canton, went Home to be with the Lord Thursday April 20, 2006. Born on July 11, 1928 in Canton to the late Dwight and Alta (Kommel) Shoemaker, he was a 1947 Hartville High School graduate and served in the Army from 1947-1952. Robert retired from Monarch Rubber Co. in 1981 after 34 years of service, moved to Tennessee and Georgia and returned to Ohio in 1994. He was a member of Canton Grace Brethren Church, Conrad Lodge No. 271, F. & A.M. and The Blind Veterans Society of Akron Canton. He had a love of painting and also volunteered for the VA in Canton. Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Teena Kurtz, Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Faber); children, Barbara (Stephen) Ames of FL, Diana (Garry) Lavy of Canton, Robert Jr. (Maggie) Shoemaker of Middlebranch; grandchildren, Abraham Kurtz, Jennifer Ames, Stephen Jr. (Renee) Ames, Juliette Lavy, Jaclyn (Mark) Seifreit, Kristin (Chuck) Moore, Charles Shoemaker, Beth Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Ames, Matthew Hohler, Brandon and Chloe Seifreit, Cameron Moore; siblings, Janice Parsons of Canton, Richard (Pat) Shoemaker of Columbus and Marianne (Robert) Cheney of Massillon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday 2:00 pm in Canton Grace Brethren Church, 6283 Market Ave.,N, with Masonic Services and with Pastor Joe Constantino officiating.
