Robert Michael (Mike) Shearer, age 63, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord after a short illness, January 24, 2014 while in Hospice. Robert was born August 1, 1950. He graduated from Lake High in 1968, attended the University of Akron, and served honorably in the Navy on a Polaris nuclear submarine during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime resident of Newport Richey, Florida. Robert knew the Lord as his savior and was a member of the Solid Rock Fellowship. He loved playing chess, studying the Bible and listening to gospel music. His parents, Merle and Margaret Shearer and his infant brother preceded him in death. He is survived by his brothers Mark (Elaine) of Hudson, Fla., Christopher (Kelly) of Uniontown, and Jon (Deeann) of Hartville; sisters Rebecca (Gene) Martz and Rosemary (Tom) Bloom of Hartville and many nieces and nephews. A private family funeral service at Arnold Funeral Home will be held February 7, 2014 with interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solid Rock Fellowship, Hartville, Ohio or to Disabled Veterans.
