Robert R. Salmen, 74, passed on to the glory of his Lord September 16, 2014 after battling cancer for a short time. He was born in Canton, Ohio on April 9, 1940 to John H., Sr. and Regina (Ungar) Salmen. He was employed by Canton Cemetery Association, A-1 Drywall, Nickels Bakery and Eljer Plumbingware. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers John H. Jr., Paul, William, Emil, Arthur, Henry, Albert and Harold; sister Agnes Ericksen; and his furry friends Snoopy, Misty, Mandy, Mindy and Smokey. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Joanne (Allan) Salmen; daughter Regina R. Perkins of Braselton, Georgia; grandsons Kyle Robert Perkins, US Navy, Norfolk, Virginia and Ryan Joseph Perkins of Braselton, Georgia; sister Rose Crites of Byron, Georgia; best friend of 69 years Ernie Smith of Canton, OH; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and beloved dogs Lady, Chelsea and Milo. Calling hours will be Friday 5-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave,N, Canton and one hour prior to services in the church Saturday 1-2 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday 2 PM at Grace United Church of Christ with Rev. Jacquie McMillen officiating.
