Robert Robinson, age 86, of Canton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening December 21, 2010 in the comfort of his daughter's home. He was born January 13, 1924 in Canton, Ohio and married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Dolan who he met in the McKinley High School Band. He was a line communication specialist in the US Army during WW II. After serving in the Army, Robert played drum in the VFW Drum and Bugle Corp. winning National Champion and many other honors. He also was a founding member of the Canton Blue Coats. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Greenwood Christian Church and was on the Ohio Auxiliary State Patrol in Massillon. Robert loved being with his family, had a talent for building miniature houses, and enjoyed camping, fishing and water skiing. Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Kathleen Robinson in 2008; he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Terry and Sherry Robinson of Canton, daughter Debra Robinson Slutz of Oberlin; grandchildren R.J. Jr. and Amy Slutz of FL, Kristen and Rick Perez of FL, Matthew and Kristle Slutz of Boardman, OH, Brian Slutz who is in basic training with the Air Force in San Antiono, TX; great-grandchildren Hanna and Carson Slutz, Michael and Jonathan Perez; sister Berdine Harmon of Michigan; sister-in-law Evelyn Moorhead of Cambridge; brother-in-law Harold Dolan of AZ; other relatives and friends. Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Canton and an hour prior to services Monday 10-11 AM. Funeral services are Monday 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bancroft officiating. Final resting place is Sunset Hills Burial Park.
