Dr. Robert A." Doc" Rhodes, 81, of North Canton passed to the Celestial Lodge above on October 7, 2016 unexpectedly. Born May 24,1935. Survived by wife of 52 years, Alice A. (Kiefer) Rhodes, sister, Nancy L. Shanklin, sons Theodore R. and Dru R. Rhodes, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father, Hobert F. Rhodes, mother Pauline E. (Wisler) Rhodes and daughter Laura L. Pilcher. Doc was a graduate of Lehman High School, Mount Union College, and Case Western Reserve University which culminated in a chosen career as an Oral Surgeon in Canton for 33 years the majority of which at Dr. Wendell A. Bircher and Dr. Robert A. Rhodes D.D.S. He was an active member of several professional organizations. He lived a very rich and fulfilling life with many accolades, accomplishments, and outside interests including Eagle Scout and 2 palms, God and country award, Master Counselor and Representative Demolay Chevaliar Legion of Honor, and Eastern Star. Doc had an extremely active Masonic career starting with being a Past Master of Lathrop Lodge #676 in 1969, Potentate Tadmor Shrine 1976, and culminating with being coronated 33 degree A.A.S.R Valley of Canton in 1982, K.Y.C.H, and Red Cross of Constantine. He enjoyed a long career officiating baseball, softball, football, and volley ball and was inducted into the Canton Baseball HOF. He volunteered as an EMT-A with North Canton E.M.S for 25 years. Doc's passion in life was outdoor activities including extensive hunting adventures to many states including Alaska and Canada, as well as his love for forestry improvement and soil/ water conservation projects. Genealogy of the family tree was a late in life interest.The family would like to thank the North Canton EMS and Mercy Medical staff for their care and support. Funeral service will be Wednesday 11:00 A.M. in the Cathedral Room of the Canton Masonic Temple 836 Market Avenue North. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 8 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St., W.
