Robert W. Lee, Sr., age 82, of Canton passed away late Tuesday evening in Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family. Robert left this world in the same manner he lived, with strength, dignity, and courage. Robert was born in Newport News, Virginia to the late Roy and Alma Lee. His youth and young adult years were spent in Hampton, Virginia graduating from Hampton High School in 1954 and Virginia Commonwealth University in 1959. After ten years with the Jefferson Manufacturing Company in Richmond Virginia, Robert joined the Hoover Company in 1970 and was employed by the company for 33 plus years, retiring in 2003. Robert held various positions in the company notably in sales and marketing, training, and divisional and regional management in Richmond, Atlanta, St. Louis, Chicago and ending his career in North Canton as exhibit manager. Preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie B. Lee, in 1995 and brother, Gerald Lee, in 2012, he is survived by his wife and best friend, Joyce Mason; three children, Susan (Mike) Onken of Montgomery, Illinois, Stacey (Jason) Neubig of Augusta, Georgia, Robert W. Lee, Jr. of Naperville, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Onken, Joshua and Olivia Neubig and Isabella Lee of West Salem, Ohio; brother, Roy Kennedy Lee of Palm Bay, Florida and many nieces, nephews and friends. Robert also is survived by Joyce's son, William (Jill) Mason and son, Liam Mason. Robert was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton where he served in various positions over the years as a greeter, deacon, and food coordinator for the Food, Clothing and Prayer Ministry. Robert's zest for life is reflected in the many good times he enjoyed with friends. He loved to laugh, had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone knew when he was at the party. He loved Ohio State football and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians. In his later years, he enjoyed spending the winters with Joyce on Hutchison Island, Florida. Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. A private interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. in the church parlor.
