Robert James Devereaux, age 92, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday December 2, 2016. He was born in Canton on May 25, 1924 to the late Albert and Margaret (Slusser) Devereaux and was a WW II Navy Veteran. He was a life long Truck Driver who never had an accident. He was a member of, and a head usher at Middlebranch Grace Brethren Church. Besides his great love for his wife, Robert had a passion for mentoring boys and men to live Godly lives and make a difference in the world around them, which he did mostly through Christian Service Brigade and his many years at Stony Glen Camp.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years Mildred (Moser); sons Robert II (Mary) of Louisville and Jack of Canton; grandchildren Samantha and Emily Devereaux, Lindsay (Jonathan) Rex, Nicholas and Caroline Devereaux; brother-in-law Howard Moser of Canton; nieces and nephews including Georgia (Dave) Alaback and Robert Moser; cousin Jack Speidel of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother Don and brother Jackie.
Calling hours are Tuesday 2-3 PM and services begin Tuesday at 3 PM, all at Middlebranch Grace Brethren Church, with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. A reception follows. Graveside Committal services with Military Honors will be Wednesday 1 PM at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Service Brigade, c/o Middlebranch Grace Brethren Church.
