Rita Whitman, age 92, of Uniontown passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the Inn at Belden Village. She was born October 2, 1922 to John and Erma (Haidet) Kress. Rita was a member of Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church in Akron, Mogadore VFW Auxiliary and the Lake Senior Center. Preceded in death by her husband James in 1989; daughter Betty Miller Sells; sisters, Orilla Brahler, Delores Schnase, Mary Carter; brothers, Richard, Merton, Norbert and Delmer Kress. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara (Henry) Simmons, Trudy (Glenn) Gardner, Shirley (Len) Matz; brother, Francis Kress; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. Friends may call Sunday 2-4:00 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, 504 W. Maple St. in Hartville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd, Akron, Ohio with Father David Halaiko Celebrant.
