Richard Austin Weaver DVM The Season for Singing has come. Song of Songs 2:12 Richard Austin Weaver DMV, age 76 of Canton, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Whitehall, Montana as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident. Preceded in death by father, Howard B. Weaver MD, mother, Charlotte (Ehlers) Weaver and brother, Billy Weaver. Dr. Weaver enjoyed the practice of veterinary medicine for 48 years. In 1973, he was the tribal veterinarian on the Oglala Sioux Reservation, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, where he treated animals and worked with at risk youth. He had a heart for Christian mission and fulfilled that desire through trips to Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Romania, Mexico, and Peru. Many of those trips were in coordination with Christian Veterinary Missions. In 2004, Richard fulfilled his passion to serve the Lord by earning a Masters of Arts in Christian Ministries from Malone College. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army free meal program for several years. At the time of his death, Dr. Weaver operated the Veterinary Wellness Center of North Canton, providing affordable veterinary services. His wife, devoted staff and certified veterinarians will continue his legacy of compassionate care. Richard was a member of The Chapel, Christian Motorcyclists Association, Chapel Riders Motorcycle Club, American Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Stark County Veterinarians and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginny) Anne Weaver, sister Nancy (Larry) Hoover, brother Howard (Deb) Weaver, MD, of Rutland, VT. Children Wayne Watkins, DVM (Lori), of McCook, NE, Kim (Tom) Young, Trent (Kris) Badger, Tammy (Kevin) Crowe, Geoffrey Nelson, Douglas (Megan) Nelson, Gregory (Jessica) Nelson, Trevor (Silva) Nelson, numerous grandchildren & two great-grandchildren.
