Richard L. Shafer, age 73, of Canal Fulton passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Affinity Hospital after a short illness. Retired from Ameritech. Preceded in death by his parents Donald and Jessie (Fehndrich ) Shafer and by a brother, Dennis. He is survived by his daughter Laurie Shafer, son Scott Shafer, sister Patricia Norris, niece Jennifer (Nathan) Pocock, great-nephews Austin, Baily and Liam and several cousins. Richard volunteered for Friends Disaster Service and the Salvation Army.

A graveside committal service of cremains will be held Monday May 15th at 2 PM in Massillon City Cemetery.
