Obituary

Richard P. Baker, age 81 of Hartville, passed away Saturday morning December 25, 2010 at Aultman Hospital. He was born December 6, 1929 in Canton and has been a lifetime resident of Hartville. Mr. Baker was a plumber and pipefitter, working for Earl Hill Plumbing and Heating and retiring from Teledyne Monarch after 21 years of service. He was a member of Hartville Church of the Brethren, the Hartville School Mates group, was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of William H. Hoover Lodge #0770 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. Richard was a long time active and dedicated member of the Hartville Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Hartville Sewer Board for over 20 years, was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #45 and was a co-founder of Little League Baseball in Hartville. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid bowler with a high game of 299.He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, December 8, 2000. He is survived by daughters, Debi and Al Troyer of Uniontown, DeAnn and Don Louis of Greer, South Carolina, Laury and Bob Leech of Washington, Pennsylvania,; son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Sandy Baker of North Canton; sisters, Margaret Saunier, Maxine Venosdle, Harriet (Bonnie) Barfield and Charlotte Grice; brothers, Donald Wise and William Venosdle; 10 grandchildren, Kim (Rob) Testa, Kellie (Steve) Shuman, Alison (Tim) Giammarco, Ashlee (Joe) Haddad, Cory Baker, Carey Louis, Erin Louis, Patrick McCulley, Marissa Leech, Adam Leech, 5 great grandchildren and very special friend and companion Ellie Shahan and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville and one hour prior to the service at the church (10-11:00 a.m.). Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Hartville Church of the Brethren with Rev. Tom Michaels officiating. Interment will be in Marlboro Cemetery. The family thanks the Hartville Fire Department for coming and helping their father on many occasions during the last few years of his life and also thank Dad's wonderful and caring neighbor, Julie.
