Obituary

Richard David Oaks, 64, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2010 after a 2 year illness with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Born in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Grace and Claude Oaks, he moved from Marietta, Ohio to the Akron- Canton area in 1963. He was a graduate of Hudson High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corp in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a 47 year member of Grace Cathedral. Richard was a well-respected member of the manufacturing community in the electrical field of "High Voltage Distribution." He was a former employee of Teledyne Monarch Rubber, North America Molded Products and most recently in the Research/ Development Dept. at M.K. Morse Company. Richard enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He found great peace and solace in caring for his beloved 5 acres, raising his Basset Hound "girls" in past years, and taking day tripsespecially "Back home" to Marietta. Preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, "Pop" Joe Kisor, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn (Kisor), mother-in-law Marie Kisor, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Mark Latham, nephew Matthew (Stacy) Latham, sister Joyce (Darrel) King of GA, and many other relatives and friends. Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private for the family with burial in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman with Rev. Bob Hoffman officiating. Memorials may be made to Grace Cathedral, Box 1790, Akron, OH 44309 for "Bibles for Missions" fund or to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn NW, Canton, OH 44708. Our thanks to the Grace Cathedral Church Body for your continuing prayer, and to Richard's co-workers and employers at M.K. Morse Co. for enabling him to work as long as he did, and to "Janet" for always being available when we needed you. Rich, you will never be forgotten. Your gentle kind spirit and willingness to always help others has forever touched our lives. (Arnold 330-877-9364) www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
