Obituary

Richard J. Halter, Sr., age 81, passed away Monday evening, March 13, 2017 in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center from complications of Leukemia which he fought for the past eleven years. He was born January 12, 1936 in East Sparta, Ohio together with his twin sister, Monica, to Irwin and Emma (McCarty) Halter. He was raised on a farm and at age 13 moved to Magnolia.

Richard was a man of many talents and was a truck driver for 30 years. He loved the flea market in Hartville, working on tractors and cars and was known for fixing almost anything mechanical.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Marlene in 1973. They had three children, Richard Jr. (Rhonda), Darlene (Dave), David (Amy). He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Delores. In addition to his children he is survived by his wife, Joan (Pope) Halter; six grandchildren, Ricky, Sandy, Tracie, Lindsay, Celina, Cierra and five great grandchildren, Trent, Logan, Pierce, Lillie and Cooper.

A memorial Mass will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Little Flower Catholic Church with Fr. Leo Wehlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in Henry Warstler Cemetery.
