Obituary

Richard Frease Belden, Sr. passed away Thursday evening, June 18, 2009 at Aultman Hospital. He was born on November 21, 1918 in Canton, Ohio to the late Paul B. Sr. and Mary (Hinchliffe) Belden. Following his graduations from Exeter Academy and the University of Notre Dame, he was employed at The Belden Brick Company from 1941 to 1997. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Freeman), and his brothers, Paul B., Jr., William H., Sr., and Daniel M., Sr. He is survived by his children, Richard F. Belden, Jr. of Chicago, Robert F. (Kathleen) Belden of Canton, Julia M. Belden of Denver, Ann P. (Derek Remski) Belden of San Francisco, Mark P. (Madeleine) Belden of Chicago, and Phillip G. Belden of Canton; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was an original trustee of The Canton Police Boys Club, a charter member of The Stark County Historical Society, a member of Brookside Country Club, and St. John the Baptist Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 710 Tuscarawas St., W. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Richard F. Belden, Sr. Charitable Trust at The Stark Community Foundation, 400 Market Ave. N., Canton, Ohio 44702. The procession will form at the church on Monday.
