Our beloved Rebekah Freday (Zimmerman) left this world suddenly on September 26, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Jon, three beautiful children, Gabriel, Destiny, and Aden of Canton, Ohio, her brother Michael Zimmerman and his partner Cynthia Cox, also of Canton, and several surrogate sisters across Canton, Dover, and New Philadelphia.

Rebekah was born in Dennison OH, on February 13, 1978. She completed her high school requirements while being homeschooled, and entered the workforce. She spent several years in service of the YMCA of Stark County where she forged friendships that lasted a lifetime. She married the love of her life, Jon, on February 24 1999.

She started her family while continuing her education, working hard as a mother and student. She graduated from Axia College of the University of Phoenix with a degree in Psychology in 2014.

Rebekah was an avid reader, drawn to stories of all genres, including non-fiction. She was a frequently published writer, penning diverse articles for a plethora of online magazines and weblogs. Her heart always lead her back to art as she was a poet and editor, and an painter among other things, often refurbishing furniture and repurposing discarded items . She loved art and adored music.

Her infectious laugh and her quick wit became her trademarks. Her sense of humor ranged from puns to snide or cynical jokes, but always with the best of intentions. She enjoyed making others laugh and provided a needed sense of welcome to all she met.

Rebekah will mostly be remembered for her unrivaled compassion and selfless heart. She was an avid animal lover, often rescuing strays and re-homing pets that would have been in danger. She was fierce defender of the downtrodden, with a passion for protecting the most vulnerable. She loved the people around her dearly and with everything she had.

She will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday 10/6 @ 2:30 PM at River of Life Church 3281 State St. NW. North Canton where friends and family are welcome to call.
