Raymond L. Wetzel, age 80, of North Canton passed away on October 30, 2025. He was born as the youngest of 6 children, in Chicago on March 30, 1945, to Herbert and Ellen (Driscoll) Wetzel. Raymond enlisted in the Navy where he was trained as an RN and ultimately earned his master's degree and became a Nurse Anesthetist. He spent his career working at Akron General Hospital, Aultman Hospital, Doctor's Hospital, and Middletown Hospital. He was known for his dedication to his craft and was always early to ensure his operating rooms were prepared for his patients. Raymond was a of a history buff who enjoyed reading everything about the Civil War as well as the English Monarchy. He enjoyed trips with his late wife, visiting family in Illinois and Wisconsin. Most of all, he enjoyed his family, was proud of their accomplishments, and adored being a grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; siblings Herbert Wetzel, Mary Piotraschke, Florence Van Nuland, and Gene Wetzel.

Raymond is survived by his daughter Monica Curren of North Canton; sons, Matthew Wetzel of Louisville and Jason Wetzel of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Christine (Dan) Taylor, Cody (Bree) Curren, Elizabeth, Jack, James Wetzel, Kathryn, Madison Wetzel; great grandchildren, Raymond, Aden, Daniel, Cooper, Magnolia and Elinor; brother Donald (Joan) Wetzel.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 12-1:30 PM at the Arnold-Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home at 4817 Cleveland Ave NW. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM with Celebrant Kevin O'Brien officiating. Interment will follow at North Canton Cemetery.
