Ralph G. Vance, age 93 of Canton, passed away Monday evening with his loving family at his side in Windsor Medical Center. He was born February 24, 1912 in Canton to George and Clara (Schlarb) Vance and has been a Canton resident all of his life. Ralph was a 1931 graduate of McKinley High School and retired from the Timken Company in 1978. He was a member of McKinley Lodge #431 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton and the American Association of Clock Collectors. Mr. Vance enjoyed collecting antiques and clocks and was an accomplished wood worker. He built his own home in 1952 and lived there until 2004. Ralph was an unselfish, caring person who gave generously of himself to family and friends. He took great joy in playing Santa Claus at Santa's Village in the Stark County Library and several other locations. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 1985. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barb and Henry (Chic) Belden IV, Kathy and Sheldon (Shelly) Arkow; grandchildren, Steven, Henry V (Chip) and Julie, George (Whit), Seth, Amanda, Andrew and three great grandchildren, Henry, Emma and Ben. Private funeral services will be Thursday at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev Douglas A Patton officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
