Ralph Frederick Close, age 94, of North Canton, Passed away Wednesday evening, January 31, 2007 at St. Luke Lutheran Community. Born September 6, 1912 in Salineville, Ohio to Frederick and Ethel Close. Mr. Close worked for the United States Postal Service and was a WW II Army Veteran having fought in the Battle of Normandy. He was an avid golfer and after retirement worked at Tam-O-Shanter Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dora on January 17, 2007 and two brothers, Bruce and Harold Close. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Pam Close, Douglas and Joyce Close all of North Canton; sister Virginia Rial; grandchildren, Kevin Close, Brian Close of North Canton, Christa (Dave) Gulley and Scott Close of South Carolina; great grandchildren, Megan, Nicolas and Erin Gulley and many other relatives and friends. A special note of thanks to Kristy Irwin and the staff at St. Lukes Lutheran Community for their wonderful care. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton with Rev. Gary Smith officiating.
