Rae F. Mandel, age 77, of Canton, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2012 in Aultman Hospital. She was born on December 8, 1934 in Canton to the late Meyer and Yetta (Weisbrod) Grossman. Rae graduated from McKinley High School, Kent State University and the University of Akron. She was a teacher with the Perry Local School System and retired in 1989. Member of Temple Israel. She was president of the College Club and president of the Canton Women's Club. Rae was also chairman of Temple Sisterhood and a member of Hadassah. Rae is survived by her husband Dr. Alan A. Mandel O.D.; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Edward Plaster Sr. of Ocala, FL.; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Tamara Jaffe of Newnan, GA.; step-son Charles Scott Mandel of Albuquerque, NM.; brother Vigdor Grossman of St. Paul, MN.; three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Arnold Funeral Home, Canton with Rabbi Jon Adland and Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.
