Rachel L. Weaver died peacefully on October 15, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving a legacy of genuine compassion, joyful hospitality, and deep trust and faith in the Source of Life to whom she has now entrusted her spirit.

She was beloved by many in the Hartville community, dedicating her life to nurturing and guiding her seven sons into lives of service, quietly sharing empathy with those struggling with life's challenges, and baking a seemingly endless stream of goodies to share with anyone who might be cheered by a warm banana muffin or a container of fresh-baked cookies.

Though rarely spoken of, her early years were marked by hardship and sorrow, and from these experiences she learned to sense when others were hurting. In her unassuming way, she provided encouragement and hope to many in times of trouble. She loved hosting dinners in her home, gathering people from all walks of life to share a meal, laughter, and stories. Few things added as much joy to her life as tending to her flower gardens.

After her husband Herman's passing from Alzheimer's in 1990, her life continued blossoming in ways that took strength and courage. She volunteered summers at Bethel Mennonite Camp in Clayhole, Kentucky; served several years at Rosedale Bible College in Irwin, Ohio; and volunteered for years at the Hartville Thrift House. Each day she held onto the promise that she would one day be reunited with her husband again.

Rachel is survived by her seven sons: Raymond (Gina), Wayne, Herman Jr. (Cindy), Myron (Sheryl), David, Joseph (Leah), and John (Marcia); her siblings Lydia Yoder, David Yoder and John Yoder; and her nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Born in Belleville, PA, she was preceded in death by her parents John Yoder and Mary (Peachey) Yoder, her brother Daniel Yoder, her husband Herman Weaver, Sr., granddaughter Chloe Weaver, and daughter-in-law Juanita Weaver.

In her final years she received loving support and care from the staff at the Homestead at Gentlebrook in Hartville, with additional care provided by the attentive team from Aultman Hospice. We are grateful for all who brought light to this chapter of her life.

Rachel was a faithful member at Maple Grove Mennonite Church on Smith Kramer in Hartville since 1954, where calling hours are on FRIDAY, October 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating her life will be on SATURDAY, October 18th at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery and a meal at the church to share memories of her life and legacy.
