Phyllis Diane (Horn) Harrington, age 79, passed away peacefully at the Inn at Belden Village on Tuesday, April 1st. Much loved by her husband, children and grandchildren. Phyllis was born in Canton, OH January 22, 1929 to the late Clayton G. and Juanita K. Horn. She lived in the Canton area most of her life, leaving only for a few years when she and her husband James (Jim) moved their family to Grand Rapids, MI. Phyllis graduated from Lehman High School in 1947 and from Kent State University in 1951 with a degree in education. While at Kent she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. The couple observed their 54th wedding anniversary last week. For a number of years, Phyllis and her very good friend Ann Gibbons who passed away in March, owned "The Clothes Line", a clothing business for nursing home residents. She also worked with Welcome Wagon, was a volunteer in the gift shop at Mercy Medical Center, and was a substitute teacher with North Canton Schools. Phyllis enjoyed golf and tennis, and was known to family members as a strong ping-pong competitor. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends in several bridge clubs. She and Jim loved traveling with friends to several European destinations and with family to many places in the United States, especially out West. Phyllis was a great fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns with a love of those teams instilled in her at an early age by her father. In addition to her husband she is survived by daughters: Amy (Anthony) Wise of N. Canton and Diane Wehunt of Odessa, FL and son Robert T. (Virginia) Harrington of Cary, IL.
