Obituary

Peter C. Tsipis, age 87, of Cincinnati, passed away on Sunday March 21, 2021. He was born in Athens Greece on March 23, 1933 to the late Constantinos and Martha (Tsimbidaros) Tsipis. On his own at the age of 13, he immigrated to America and became a Nationalized Citizen at age 20 and joined the Army. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. Upon discharge of the Army, he joined the Cleveland Police Force where he rose to the rank of Homicide Detective. He resigned from the police force to join the Treasury Department and was assigned to Youngstown with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms. He retired in 1989 with the rank of Resident Agent in charge of Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky regions. In the first year of his career he was awarded The Certificate of Agent of the Year. Throughout his careers, he was involved in competitive shooting and on the National Shooting Teams every year and won most competitions. He became known as "Pistol Pete". He wrote training manuals and was very interested in teaching new shooters the proper way of shooting and gun safety.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Gaylene (Byers); daughters Maria (Mark) Frenger and Martha Merrett; 5 grandchildren Marc Frenger, Courtney Frenger, Zackery Frenger, Geoffrey (Heather) Rance, Lindsay (Kevin) Dickman; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Lou Tsipis; other relatives and friends.

Private Funeral Services will be held in Canton. A memorial service will be held in Cincinnati in the Spring and the day and time will be announced at www.police-museum.org
