Penny K. Harris, age 76, went into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her family on Saturday morning November 24 at Aultman Hospital. Her death was a result of complications from aspiration pneumonia and sepsis. Her days started with Bible reading, prayer and listening to gospel music. She always was generous to those in need.
Penny was born May 13, 1942 in Canton, Ohio. She graduated from Glenwood High School, Aultman School of Radiology Technicians and Walsh University with a degree in accounting. She was the first female accountant at Ernst & Ernst. Penny also worked as a controller for MRM in Massillon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Wilma Harris; her best friend Rose Marie of 50 years who died on November 25. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law Pamela and Richard McElroy and Jennifer Miller; niece Rachael (Turk) Knisely; nephews Matthew (Tammy) and Luke (Jackie) McElroy, Chris Herberghs, Bryan Herberghs and Mark Miller. Also survived by special people Donna (Petroff) Kelly and her daughter Jayme Kelly.
As a lifelong member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Penny was active in their greeting card ministry. At her request she was cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at John Knox Presbyterian Church 5155 Eastlake Ave NW at 11:00 AM Thursday November 29.
