Obituary

Patsy L. Stan, 83, passed away on May 19, 2013, after having bravely endured an illnesss filled 2013. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles M. Stan, and by her parents, George and Elizabeth Galloway. She was the last surviving Galloway sibling. Patsy graduated from Timken Vocational High School and was an accomplished dressmaker. She studied at the Margaret Appel School of Dance and was a talented dancer. She appeared in many local productions and was encouraged to audition for the Radio City Rockettes, despite her petite stature. Patsy was a member and past officer of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women's philanthropy and service organization. She discovered her talent for golf at age 50 and was a member of the Shady Hollow Country Club 9 and 18 hole women's golf leagues. She was a member of Shady Hollow's women's card clubs and was a volunteer for the Canton Fine Arts Associates' annual Christkindl Markt. She was a supporter of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps and admired the aesthetics of dance and costuming in their performances. An animal lover, Patsy had three special favorites: Nikki, Graham and Vito. She loved to watch golf on television and to talk about the day's match with family and friends. Patsy's greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory Christi, Mark and Mark Douglas Hornak; Terry, Natalie, Garret and Trevor Stan; and Lisa, Allison and Tommy King. Special thanks to the staff of Windsor Medical Center and Harbor Light Hospice for kindness and grace though the darkest of days. A private family service will be held in Christ Presbyterian Church. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 22nd from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W.
