PATRICIA SUSAN SHERMAN, RN

It is with great respect and sorrow that we the family of PAT SHERMAN, of Dover, Ohio, announce her passing away on February 9, 2026, due to renal failure (Kidney). Pat was born April 28, 1945 in Paterson, New Jersey, to Charles Henry and Loretta Marie (Snyder) Marion.

Pat graduated from West Milford Township high school in West Milford, New Jersey in 1963.

She joined the U.S. Navy in June of that year during the Viet Nam War. She was a Hospital Corpsman stationed in Bainbridge Maryland, the Great Lakes Naval Station, Illinois and Quonset Point Rhode Island. She served honorably and was decorated for good conduct. Pat loved the military and was a true patriot.

She married H.D.Hanlon of Goshen, Ohio, in 1964. Later divorced. She next married R.W. Coldsnow of Alliance, Ohio, in 1984. This also ended in divorce.

Pat met the true love of her life in 1995 when she found Stanley B. Sherman of Akron, Ohio. Pat and Stan married on May 21, 1998, in Venice Florida and have been happy and blessed for all these years living in Dover, Ohio.

Pat never had children. She graduated from Kent State University in 1974 as a Registered Nurse and was active in her profession until she died. She had a second profession in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist and medical insurance coder graduating from Buckeye Career Center in 2008 with her certification in these fields.

Surviving is her beloved husband, Stan, her loving sister Charlotte Davis of Englewood, Florida, her loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law Les and Eileen Sherman of Las Vegas, Nevada, her nephews Bob Sherman and his loving children, and Jeff Sherman and his family, her dear nieces and their families: Kathy Peth of Illinois and Kris Peth of Florida, her dear friend Kathleen Trissel of Louisville, Ohio, her dear friend Lisa Howard of Canton, Ohio, her “sister” Phyllis Weiner of Akron, Ohio and many other sweet friends and acquaintances.

Proceeding her in death are her Parents and several aunts and uncles and her dearest friend Glenna Knight.

Funeral Services will be at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N, Canton Ohio at 11:00 AM on February 18, 2026. Burial will be at the Rittman Military Cemetery as will her husband Stan when his time comes.

Officiating will be Rabbi John Spitzer and Rabbi Dr. David Komerofsky of Temple Isreal, Canton Ohio.

Pat’s wish was that her death would not bring sorrow, but that it would be a joyful time celebrating the life she lived with such zest. Pat enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband, her pets with her husband beside her laughing and playing with Chip, Molly, Chotsie and Trixie, feeding the birds and writing her stories.

She was a published author of AUGIE ON THE PORCH, a series of fables. THE MANSION, a self-help short story, her series THE ADVENTURES OF GRINK AND GRANG, and a novel SEWING WITH MOTHER and her memoir THE BLUE SWING, a story of child abuse, choices and living without anger. THE BLUE SWING offers one more story to add to so many others. We’re all waiting for the day when the world will truly notice and seriously act against the abusers of children. We’re waiting…

She felt happy in her lovely home in Dover and lived her life as she wished with very few regrets. This was her wish, “Don’t cry, but rather smile and have a party with laughter and stories of remembered times together. Send flowers if you like, but in memory of her send a contribution to the homeless in our country and support the wonderful people we know that have mental illnesses” She thanks all of you for “a sweet ride through life!” We thank her for the memories. She was one in million. She is now looking down over all the lives she saved throughout her medical career and life.

The family also wishes to thank The Inn at Northwood Village, Dover Ohio and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care for their caring and support.
