Paul Thomas (Tom) Irwin, age 76, a life resident of Canton, Ohio, entered into rest Thursday March 27, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center following a 14 month battle with cancer. He was born January 19, 1931 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Alice B. (Barnhart) and W. Paul Irwin. A 1949 graduate of Canton McKinley High, he lettered with the swim team. He served in The United States Navy from 1950-1954 in Korea and Okinawa. Among his many accomplishments he retired as presidents of the following, The Irwin Steel Corporation, Lincoln Meat Company (N.C.), California Nevada Mining (NV), American Ticket Company, Winir Corporation (1980-1993) and he served on the board of directors of The Harter Bank and Trust for ten years. He was a devoted member of Church of the Savior (Canton) since 1938, Canton Chamber of Commerce, Canton Rotary, a 32' Tadmor of The Masonic Trinity 710, Congress Lake Club (1954-1987) and The NFL Alumni, Cleveland and Miami Chapters. Paul greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and meeting people and spending time with his friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Agnes J. (Long) Irwin in 1988. Survivors include his children, Linda L. Hall of Louisville, Mellissa (Dave) Allen of Stilwell, Kansas, W. Paul (Karen) Irwin of Perry Township, Michael T. (Lisa) Irwin of Louisville, Thomas K. Irwin of Perry Township; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Georege Roberts officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6 – 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Friday (10-11:00 a.m.).
