Omar N. Cochran, age 89, of Canton passed away Sunday October 31, 2010 at Canton Regency where he has recently resided. He was born in Key West, FL on June 12, 1921 to the late Maurice and Golden (Hanson) Cochran. After graduating from McKinley High School in 1940, he served 4 years in the U. S. Coast Guard. He attended Kent State and graduated from Perdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was an Environmental Engineer for 37 years. He started with Floyd Brown & Associates in Marion, was Chief Environmental Engineer for Trumbull County, worked for Quicksall & Associates in New Philadelphia and retired from Kudukis, Schadt and Associates. He had a good productive life and had known many good people. Preceded in death by his wife Betty (Gilmore) Cochran and brother Micky Cochran. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Revonda Cochran of Canton, Bruce and Betsy Cochran of Youngstown, NY; grandchildren Krista, Kelly (Daris), Shannon (Justin), Matthew and Michael; and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be Wednesday 2:00 PM in North Lawn Cemetery. He will be buried next to his wife, Betty, who was the best thing in his life.
