Oliver Gemmel Jr., age 62 of Canton, passed away Friday, February 1, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born December 9, 1945 in Cleveland. Mr. Gemmel was a Coast Guard Veteran having served on the Cutter Spencer and was a retired member of Teamsters Local 52. He loved life, family, traveling, lighthouses, covered bridges, getting lost on dirt roads and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Oliver Gemmel, son Roger Gemmel and "Toby". Survivors include his wife Pearl Gemmel; children, Oliver Gemmel III of Juarez, Mexico, Meg Gemmel of Canton, Jon and Andrea Gemmel of Boston, MA, Jim and Patty Sullivan of Hartville, Mark and Joan Sullivan of Canton, Pam and John Lemasters of Greentown; grandchildren, Christine and Travis Ledford, Patrick and Christine Sullivan, Zack, Jackie, Nicole, Shelley, Sam, Blair, Jeffery, Dominic, Antonio, Ollie IV, Jaylin and Avery; several great-grandchildren; mother Margaret Gemmel; siblings, Kathy Gemmel, Judy and Rodney Collins, Pat and Dave Grchen, Jim and Char Gemmel and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Bill Seymour officiating. Calling hours are Monday 6-9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday (10-11:00a.m.)
