Norman W. Slack departed his loving family going to the arms of the Lord on April 25th, 2024. Norman was born in Akron on August 19, 1944, to Dorothy G. Slack and Charles William Slack.
Norman attended Ashland University for his Master's in Biblical Studies that he used to substitute pastor in the local area after retiring from ministry with St. Peter's United Church of Christ. His calm and positive attitude uplifted many people in their walk with God. Prior to his ministry, Norman retired from Chrysler as a quality assurance representative.
As an avid volunteer, he participated in many ministries to include: Sunday School team teaching with his wife at First Congregational of Talmadge under Rev. Carter and organizing vacation bible school curriculum at St Peter's United Church of Christ. His volunteerism continued, with his wife, Linda, at Hartville Thrift Store, where he volunteered for five years and the Bread and Egg Ministry support to First Federated Church of North Jackson, OH.
Norman was a Mason and a member of local hunting and fishing clubs. His hobbies included a variety of activities related to his Native American heritage including fletching his own arrows. He also enjoyed the freedom inspired by his Jeep Wrangler and Indian Motorcycle.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Linda Slack, father Charles Slack and mother Dorothy Slack. He is survived by his daughter Amy Underwood, son Steven Slack, and daughter Nancy Hanna, Sister and brother-in-law Pamela and Bryson Miles, step-son Aaron Westover, and step-daughter Wendy Westover. Norman was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
No services will be held as immediate family were invited to family gatherings in the days following his death.
