Norman Neil Silvus, age 83, of Canton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 surrounded by his family at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center following a brief courageous battle of Cancer. He was born on June 14, 1932 In Hackney, Ohio. Neil is survived by his wife of 57 years Betty Frame Silvus; a son Jeff and daughter-in-law Penny and daughter Kimberly. Four grandchildren Ryan Bucher, Stacey (Vince) Costello, Tiffany (Kallen) Richardson and Dustin Silvus, all a great enjoyment to him. He also leaves two brothers, Rufus and Dayle Silvus, two sisters Sara Harper and Wendy Jo Ray, sister-in-law Patty Silvus and brother-in-law Danny Ray. He also leaves a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharlene and Burdette Stewart and Gary and Lyn Frame and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Mildred (Devitt) Silvus, two sisters Dorothy Wilson and Betty Maloney, three brothers-in-law Andrew Wilson, Roy Harper and Pat Maloney and a son-in-law Terry Bucher. Neil retired from Ohio Power/AEP after 43 and a half years working at Philo, Bucyrus, Lima and Canton. He enjoyed traveling and family events. Neil was a member of Ohio Power Retirees, Ohio Power Veterans Association, Canton Edgefield AARP and the Northwest Church of Christ. Calling hours are Sunday 3-6 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, Canton. Funeral services are Monday 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Minister Lance Lindenberger officiating.
