Norman H. Nisly
Age 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday December 30, 2015 under wonderful and compassionate care of St. Luke's Nursing Home in North Canton and Community Hospice. Born in Hutchinson, Kansas to the late John and Lizzie (Miller) Nisly. He was raised with 10 siblings with the Nisly family settling in Kansas, Oklahoma, and finally Ohio. He began his career as an X-ray technician in Cleveland, Ohio and then took his services to Los Angeles, California where he spent close to 40 years in his career. He was known to his peers as "Stormin' Norman" because of his speed, efficiency, and tenacity. He was an avid lover of people, the outdoors, animals, and books. He returned to Hartville, Ohio in 2007 where he could be spotted making daily visits to Quail Hollow State Park for a hike and the Lake Branch of Stark County Library for some newspaper review. He took much pride in his family, children, and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his sisters Frances Nisly (June 18, 2013) and Edna Blough Miller (March 19, 2015)
He is survived by his two sons Barry (Michelle) and Ross Nisly, grandchildren Haven, Carrie, and Bryce Nisly, all of California, and his eight remaining siblings Al (Catherine) of Uniontown, Ralph (Jan) of North Canton, Elsie Bliler of Akron, Ellen (Leon) King of Uniontown, Alma (Melvin) Miller of Walnut Creek, Ruby (Joe) Schrock of Uniontown, Lorene (Owen) Coblentz of Hartville, John (Karen) of Akron.
Calling hours are Friday 5 - 7 pm at Hartville Mennonite Church and one hour prior to services Saturday (10 - 11 am). Memorial services are Saturday 11 am at Hartville Mennonite Church. Final resting place is Foxfield Preserve at the Wilderness Center in Wilmot, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wilderness Center in honor of Norman.
