Norma M. Sponseller, age 84, of Canton died Sunday in Bethany Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Canton to the late Clarence & Catharine (Stambaugh) Mossor she was a life resident. Norma was a 1944 graduate of Timken High School. She had worked as a legal secretary and was a deputy with the Stark County Probate Court, she also volunteered at Aultman Hospital and had worked at the Timken Co. during WW II as a comptometer operator in the payroll department. She was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ, also a member of the Timken Alumni Assoc., 50 year member of Canton Lady Elk's # 68, Legacy Chapter OES # 596, and the Humane Society of the United States. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Richard Q. Sponseller in 2000, also by brothers John & Gene Mossor. She is survived by her beloved daughter: Laria L. Sponseller of Canton. Brother: Paul A. Mossor and sister-in-law: Carol A. Mossor both of N. Canton. Numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Thursday in the Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Lynn Bozich Shetzer officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to an Animal Rescue Organization of the donor's choice.
